Film

I had always been into the arts, but it was at UCC that I honed in on film as the best way to express myself. Once I graduated, Old Boys working in the field became mentors, colleagues, clients and even business partners. UCC became a launchpad for my career as a filmmaker.

Our Film Studies courses and the College Film Club give lots of opportunities for students to tell their stories.
    • The Crown, directed by Devin Lee '18

UCC has a long tradition of filmmaking. Our film club, College Film, is a group of young filmmakers who create excellent and innovative work. Students from UCC have gone on to make a living as producers, directors and distributors.

Each April students from the Year 12 film course work with a Toronto-area girls school for the Branksome Hall/Upper Canada College Film Festival, held at at Innis College at the University of Toronto. The culminating seven-minute short films are screened, along with some of the best work from our Year 11 classes.

Anyone interested in film is welcome to visit us in our studio on the second floor of the Creativity Centre. Whether you’re interested in making films and would like to use our cutting-edge equipment, including three recording and editing suites, or you just want to relax in our screening area and watch a film from our extensive collection, we’d love for you to join us.
