UCC defeats TCS to move onto the CISAA Finals

The Blues return to the CISAA Finals thanks to a solid run game and a dominant defense, defeating TCS 32-8.
In cold and wet conditions, the Upper Canada College Blues hosted the Trinity College School Bears in the CISAA semi-final for the right to play in the championship game next week. In front of a supportive home crowd the UCC offense came out firing, scoring a touchdown on their opening drive of the game. The Blues ran the ball on four straight plays for 57-yard and marched into the end zone to take the early 7-0 lead. The UCC defense was dominant on the day giving up only 80 yards of offense in the entire first half, while forcing three turnovers. The Blues offense did their part to build a substantial lead at the half scoring on two consecutive possessions in the second quarter to take a commanding 23-0 lead at the break. TCS got back into the game thanks to some trickery in the third quarter. After recovering an onside kick to open the half, the Bears scored a touchdown to cut the Blues lead to 23-8. On the drive TCS converted on third down twice, including a fake field-goal that set them up inside the Blues five-yard line. The Bears attempted another onside kick on the ensuing kick-off but UCC was able to come away with the ball. After scoring a single point on a punt-rouge the Blues defence got back on track forcing another turnover stopping TCS on third down to set up their offense in good field position. UCC extended their lead to 31-8 thanks to a 33-yard touchdown pass. The UCC defence shut down the Bears offense for the remainder of the game, forcing one more turnover late in the game to seal the victory. The Blues return to the finals after missing out last season. They will face off against St. Andrews College, who upset St. Michaels in the other semi-final. The two teams will face off on Wednesday November 6 at 1pm at the Oval.
