UCC goes on the road to SAC and comes home with a win, remaining undefeated for the CISAA regular season
The UCC Blues travelled North to Aurora to take on St. Andrew’s College in their final regular season game. The teams exchanged turnovers of their first possessions of the game, The Blues forced a SAC fumble of their first play from scrimmage, but two plays later the Saints intercepted an errant UCC pass. After each team was forced to punt SAC gained possession deep in their territory, and went on a 14-play drive culminating in a short touchdown pass to open the second quarter with a 7-0 lead.

The Blues would only need two plays on their ensuing drive, thanks to a 62-yard touchdown pass that tied the game up at seven. After a blocked SAC punt the Blues quick-strike offense was at it again, needing only two plays to score on a 17-yard touchdown strike to gain the lead 14-7 midway through the second quarter. The Blues’ special teams got in on the fun thanks to a 63-yard punt return touchdown, set up by some excellent blocking, the Blues had a 21-7 lead late in the first half. The Blues would get a chance to extend their lead with a late field-goal, but were unable to convert, settling for a single point and entered the half with a 22-7 lead.

To open the third quarter the SAC defense came up big, forcing a fumble. On their next possession the Saints drove down to the Blues eight-yard line, but thanks to a fortuitous bounce UCC was able to recover a fumble of their own preserving their lead.

In the fourth quarter the Saints’ offence went on another lengthy drive, this time concluding with a touchdown to cut the Blues’ lead to 22-14. Like most good teams do, the Blues responded to giving up a score. Their offence marched down the field and completed their drive with a 25-yard touchdown strike to re-establish their 15-point lead, 29-14. The Blues defence shut the door on any comeback attempt, stopping SAC on third down to get the ball back and end the game.

With the win the Blues finished their regular season a perfect 4-0 and will host TCS in the semi-final on Thursday November, 1 at 3pm.
