UCC Blues win vs. Le Sommet Falcons

Coach Zappone
This Friday October 25th, The Blues traveled to Hawkesbury, ON for the first of two exhibition games against Le Sommet’s Falcons. In the teams’ first meeting of the season, it was the Falcons who opened up scoring with a pretty deflection from their powerplay. The first of two periods saw chances from both teams but with a definite edge to the Falcons who took great control of the neutral zone. By the end of the period, Le Sommet had added two more goals, both of which came on short-handed rushes.

UCC came into the second period ready to compete. Bouncing back from some tough breaks on the previous powerplay, Cam Scott found the top corner of the net with a great shot with help from Zack Dumas and Edward Moskowitz. Playing harder on the puck gave the Blues better control in the neutral zone in the 2nd leading to a breakaway goal from Zain Assaf. With less than five minutes left in the game, the power play went to work again. A beautiful feed from Zack Dumas left Edward Moskowitz with an open look which he took full advantage of. Tied at 3 goals apiece, the game went into a 3 on 3 overtime.

After a quick pep talk from Coach Morris, the boys played great possession hockey and controlled the majority of the overtime period. Keeping his promise to the team’s therapist, Breena, Anthony Dicriscio was the hero of the game with his first goal of the season and the overtime winner. This goal was assisted again by Zach Dumas and Owen Eubanks. Between the pipes, Jeremy Bello shut the door in the 2nd and in overtime to allow the boys to come away with this win.

The team is ready for the second of two games against Le Sommet this Saturday Oct. 26th.
