A slow first period cost UCC this game. After ending up down 3-1 in the first it was tough for UCC to try and come back.
Goal scorers this game were: Josh Chan from Artem and Dumas Zain Assaf from Ed and Piaget Edward Moskowitz from Piaget on the Power-Play Johnny Wright from Dumas
After narrowly getting to the finals with a win over Trinity, UCC looked to their last obstacle to the cup, Stanstead.
Edward Moskowitz gave UCC the early lead from a pass fom Piaget Ntakarutimana. Standstead responded 4 minutes later with their goal also in the first. In the second, Steanstead took the lead in the second but Matthew Sheehy evened up the game shortly after. UCC again took the lead in the 3rd with help from Ben Attkinson. The Blues had 8 minutes to hold their lead and win the tournament but with 7 minutes left Zack Dumas took an unfortunate interferance penelty. Looking to kill the Power-Play the boys lined up only to have Josh Chan join Dumas in the box after he was called for slashing. A clearance attempt by the Penalty-Killers was blocked by a linesman and resulted in an unfortunate goal for Stanstead who tied the game. Shortly after Stanstead managed a 4th goal and finally an open net goal as well.
With the chance to play in the finals on the line UCC and host team Trinity College. Trinity college took an early lead in this game and the Blues fought to catch up. A superhuman effort from the Trinity keeper turned away chance after chance from the Blues until only 1 minute remained.
Goals came aplenty in this 2nd game of the Trinity College Tournament. Jeremy Bello had an excellent game but his shut out was taken away on the very last shift of the game with 16 seconds left.
Goals were scored by: Alex Xiang, Zac Dumas, Anthony Dicriscio (2), Piaget Ntakarutimana, Owen Eubanks, Ben (Zappone) Attkinson (2), and Johnny Wright.
In the first game of the Trinity College Tournament the Blues lined up opposite King's Edgehill School who came all the way from Nova Scotia.

A highlight of the match was Christian Coffey's second goal which was an absolute blast from outside the blue line. The puck found itself neatly tucked into the top corner of the net.
The Blues traveled down the street to our neighboring boy's school St. Michael's College for another game in the CISAA league. Unfortunately although the team played a good game of hockey, SMC came out on top this time.
SMC opened scoring but were soon down a goal after goals coming from Anthony Dicriscio and Matthew Sheehy. SMC would net two more goals, both on power-plays, in the first allowing them a lead for again going into the second. An early goal in the second put SMC up by two. Piaget Ntakarutimana cut the lead down to one but it wasn't enough and SMC took this game with a score of 4-3.
This game was the first of two games played at Appleton Arena at St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York.
In a tough, scoreless, loss UCC heavily out chanced Ulysse academy but were not able to get any numbers on the scoreboard. Ulysse won the game in a sudden death overtime.
This was a great game of hockey. In this back and forth game, there were 16 penalties resulting in two short handed goals, and two power play goals and a goal with an empty with less than a minute left.

With an empty net and an extra attacker SMC managed to tie the game with a minute left.
This Winterfest, the team must have heard that blondes have more fun because the entire team came out to play with bleached blonde hair. The only exceptions were our natural blondes who opted to turn their hair blue. After some smoke, lights and the team's national anthems, we were off.
In his first game back from injury, Super Swede Klas Frykfeldt opened scoring with help from Ed Moskowitz and Ben Attkinson. UCC would hold the lead through the first but had trouble in the second period where Nichols found themselves three back to back goals. Nichols would add an empty net goal and win the game 4-2.
In the first of three games in Lake Placid, New York, the Blue's took on the tournament's host team, Northwood School.
An absolute standout this game was Jeremy Bello who faced close to 40 shots on goal and did more than his share to keep the team in the game. Even with a standout performance in net, Northwood scored late in the first and held onto that lead until Zack Dumas netted one in the third. Unfortunately, Northwood's second goal came with 3 minutes left in the 3rd and that was enough for them to take the game.
In the second game of the Northwood Tournament, UCC faced Shawnigan Lake. A team coming all the way from British Columbia.
The Blues left burnt Shawnigan only a minute into the game with a great goal from Anthony Dicriscio. On the power-play 12 minutes later, Edward Moskwitz would net one with help from Piaget Ntakarutimana. Shawnigan cut the lead in half with a goal at 5 minutes left in the first. Mathew Sheehy brought the lead back up to two with his power-play goal assisted by Owen Eubanks. Again Shawnigan crawled back into the game with their power-play goal 2 minutes later. Another power-play goal later in the second brought the game back to even again. The thrid was a great period with no edge coming to either team. After a 3 on 3 overtime failed to find a winner this game had to go to a shootout.
Jeremy Bello played another amazing game and did not allow any goals on Shawnigan's shootout efforts leaving Zach Dumas and Ben Attkinson to tidy up our shootout win.

The UCC boys showed some character in this game. After previously losing to Northfield Mount Hermon by at score of 6-0 and knowing that Taft had just beat them the previous game 4-0 the Blues were expecting a challenge.
Taft opened scoring late in the first with a goal on the power-play and it wouldn't be until the second when Zack Dumas tied it up after a great pass from John Chan. Later that period Matthew Sheehy would put the team in the lead with a power-play goal with help from Klas Frykfeldt and Zach Dumas. Taft brought it back to even with a goal late in the third, taking the game into overtime. After the previous day's defeat, the Jr. Cougars made sure to play their best hockey against the Blues. Blyth took a 2 -0 lead in the first before the UCC boys woke up. In the second game of the Barrow, UCC faced off against Ulysse acadamy who hosted UCC in their E.T. Cup where the Blues placed second. In this game a weak second period caused Ulysse to go up by two. A strong effort in the third wasn't enough to bring the boys back to even and the Blues lost 2-1.
Anthony Dicriscio scored the single goal with assists from Zack Dumas and Cam Scott.
Skating like we know they can, The Blues lead A21 3-0 midway through the second. James Moffat had a great game, scoring two in the first period. Zack Dumas added a third mid-way through the second. A three goal lead wasn't enough and A21 responded with 3 back to back goals. This game had to be decided in a shoot out. It was fortunate that Jeremy Bello was in net and stopped all three shots he faced. Zach Dumas put one past the A21 keepers and sealed the win for the Blues.
Tough first loss for the boys in the Barrow Tournament. Penalties continue to trouble the Blues as they spent a combined entire period in the box. Goal scorers this game were Matthew Sheehy who scored two and Johnny Wright.

Josh Chan was again great at the point. His power-play snipe tied the game at 1 all in the second. Matthew Sheehy also found the back of the net with help from an assist by Josh as well.
Although the team did not win their games, they still showed very well to the gathered scouts. Coming from the NHL, US colleges and Canadian professional leagues, the scouts saw what the boys could do.

Jeremy Bello did his part to keep the Blues in the game and made some saves that left Northwood players scratching their heads.
Having won their previous 4 games of the tournament, the UCC Blues were handed their first loss by the St. Michael Majors. SMC was strong on the puck and fought hard to win battles all game. UCC had a tough time staying out of the box and even an incredible performance from Jeremy Bello wasn't enough to turn the tide. Congratulations to the St. Michael's Majors.

In another pair of exhibition games, UCC welcomed Loyola to the Mara Rink. This was especially exciting for Anthony Dicriscio who arrived to UCC from Loyola last year.
The first period of the game remained scoreless but not without its excitement. The Loyola keeper stood on his head to stop the barrage of shots peppered at him by the UCC offense. In the second period the Blues found their finish with 3 out of their 4 total goals coming from the point. Owen Eubanks was fired up after finding himself in perfect position for his pair of goals. The Loyola power-play proved effective however, finding the back of the net quickly on two of their 5 power-plays. UCC now looks to Novembver 2nd and 3rd for two more exhibition games against Loyola.
This Friday October 25th, The Blues traveled to Hawkesbury, ON for the first of two exhibition games against Le Sommet’s Falcons. In the teams’ first meeting of the season, it was the Falcons who opened up scoring with a pretty deflection from their powerplay. The first of two periods saw chances from both teams but with a definite edge to the Falcons who took great control of the neutral zone. By the end of the period, Le Sommet had added two more goals, both of which came on short-handed rushes.
UCC came into the second period ready to compete. Bouncing back from some tough breaks on the previous powerplay, Cam Scott found the top corner of the net with a great shot with help from Zack Dumas and Edward Moskowitz. Playing harder on the puck gave the Blues better control in the neutral zone in the 2nd leading to a breakaway goal from Zain Assaf. With less than five minutes left in the game, the power play went to work again. A beautiful feed from Zack Dumas left Edward Moskowitz with an open look which he took full advantage of. Tied at 3 goals apiece, the game went into a 3 on 3 overtime.
After a quick pep talk from Coach Morris, the boys played great possession hockey and controlled the majority of the overtime period. Keeping his promise to the team’s therapist, Breena, Anthony Dicriscio was the hero of the game with his first goal of the season and the overtime winner.
