How to Apply

List of 4 items.

  • Step 1 — Submit an application

Once you’ve logged in or created an account, click on the application form button to start filling out the form. You can save your work and return to complete and submit it at any time -- please allow 30 minutes to an hour in total to complete the form. Please ensure that all form fields are complete before submitting as the application information cannot be edited once submitted.

Boarding decisions are made on a rolling basis beginning in December with most spaces filled by May, so we encourage families to apply as early as possible. The application fee schedule is as follows:
    $200 until Nov. 1
    $300 Nov. 2 onward
  • Step 2 — Complete all steps in your application checklist

Once your form has been processed, you can log back in to complete the following steps:

    • Upload final (June 2022–23 and 2023–24) school reports
Images of multiple pages should be merged into a single file before uploading using an app such as Adobe Scan. Please upload your documents in PDF form. Applicants are required to submit these documents within 24 hours of application submission.

    • Upload credit counselling summary
Because UCC works ahead in the Ontario Curriculum, it is important for the academic team to understand the courses taken at the applicant's school. A credit counselling summary, often known as a transcript with Ontario course labels, provides the information needed for the academic team to recommend the correct year level for the applicant.

    • Complete teacher reference request
This teacher reference helps us learn more about the applicant as a member of a learning community. Complete the form by inputting the teacher’s email. The form is sent directly to the teacher. The preference is that this is completed by the classroom teacher (previous year or current year). If not possible, the form can be sent to a teacher or coach who observes your child in a group setting. One-to-one teachers and tutors or family friends should not be used.

The teacher reference form is available through the admission checklist after you have created your account. This should be returned by the teacher by January 6, 2025.

    • Sign up for academic assessment
All candidates applying to boarding will be offered an online entrance assessment hosted by the UCC Admission Team. These are offered upon completion of an online application.

Additional testing requirement for international students:
International students for whom English is not their primary language of instruction must also submit their results from the Duolingo English Test platform. Select Upper Canada College from the list of Secondary Schools to have the test results sent directly to our admission office.

International students who have been studying in a primarily English-language school for three (3) years or more are exempt from this requirement.

Students with IELTS or TOEFL scores can submit them in lieu of Duolingo requirement.
  • Step 3 — Await an Interview invitation

Upon receipt and review of all required documents, selected candidates will be contacted by email to arrange an interview. The interview is designed to assess a prospective student’s areas of strength, needs, potential for success and alignment with UCC's values. It is also an opportunity for parents to gain deeper insight into who we are and what we offer at UCC. Please note in some cases interviews will not be scheduled until entrance assessment results have been received.

We require at least one parent/legal guardian to participate in the interview process. If the parent(s) require language/translation support, please advise the Office of Admission during interview scheduling.

    When:
Online interviews will be held from mid-October through mid-April.
  • Step 4 — Receive your decision

Boarding applications are reviewed on a rolling basis with the first round of offers being made in December.
